Communication
5/31/2009 02:01:00 PMCommunication is the process of transferring information from one source to another.
Communication is commonly defined as "the imparting or interchange of thoughts, opinions, or information by speech, writing, or signs". Communication can be perceived as a two-way process in which there is an exchange and progression of thoughts, feelings or ideas towards a mutually accepted goal or direction.
A good communication skills are essential in every job you do, every phone call you make, every document you write. Communication lies in the very heart of everything you do, all day, every day. In one form or anotherwe speak, write, send or request information or deal with other people all the time. Communication is something which everybody does. Some do it better than others of course, and we have all experienced both good and bad.
A good communicator develops a wide range of skills in speaking, listening, writing, using body language, using graphics and charts.
What is communication?
Whatever your job is, you are bound to discuss, send messages, prepare documents and attend meetings. You will have to liaise with your colleagues, customers, peers, superiors. Since communication takes up 100% of our working day, development of effective communication skills is top priority. We communicate from the moment we are born, we tend to take our ability to do so for granted, but it is a skill that can be studied and continuously improved.
Good communication is the lifeblood of successful entrepreneurs, organizations, companies etc. The aim in communication is not just to communicate but to communicate effectively.
Barriers of communication
Communication barriers are responsible for a message not being communicated correctly or for a message being distorted.
- Non-verbal signals - Often called 'body language', non-verbal signals provide valuable feedback in oral communication. A lot can be said through facial expressions, gestures, movements and eye contact.
- Language - The effectiveness of any communications, whether oral or written, depends on our choice of words. Some words mean different things to different people. Our understanding is affected by our background knowledge, our experience, our culture and the language we use.
- Listening - Listening is a critical skill. If a communication is to be understood we must concentrate. Success at gaining attention depends on the words we use, the way we express ourselves, our interest in the topic and our interest in the person speaking.
- Pre-judgement - Our background knowledge and experience often affects what we choose to understand in a communication. Sometimes we hear what we want to hear, or what we think we have heard, instead of listening carefully to what is actually said.
- Relationships - Our relationship with the sender of any message is critical in the effectiveness of the communication. Communication may fail or break down if the relationship between sender and recipient is not good.
- Emotions - Communications problem could occur through insecurity, fear, anger or any other strong emotion. If someone is highly emotional about the topic then the communication may be unsuccessful. You may consider waiting for a better time before trying to put across your message.
- Systems - Without prescribed procedures for getting messages to the people who need them, there can be no effective communication.
- Before communicating any message, ask yourself the 4 Ws:
- What is the aim of the communication?
- Who will receive the communication?
- What are the circumstances?
- What will be the recipient's reaction be?
- Think and plan before you speak or write.
- Listen intelligently. Communication is a 2 way process. Listening is just as important as speaking.
- Use appropriate language. Use clear, simple language that will be understood and appreciate the same by others.
- Be open-minded. Consider other people's viewpoints, be willing to adapt and change methods or procedures if necessary.
- Select appropriate media. Consider carefully the method for communicating the meesage. It should be appropriate to achieve the desired aim.
- Time your communication carefully.
- Obtain feedback. Feedback is essential to find out if the communication has been effective.
- Read. Extend your knowledge of language by reading.
- Aim high. Set and maintain high standards of language and presentation in all your methods of communication.

Goals vs Dreams
5/30/2009 12:50:00 PMGoals and dreams are the amazing things we have been given as humans. The desire to have dreams of a better life, and the ability to establish goals to live out those dreams. Let’s think for a minute: We can look deep within our hearts and dream of a better situation for ourselves and families, better financial lives, better emotional or physical lives and better spiritual lives. But what makes this even more powerful is that we have also been given the ability to not only dream but to pursue those dreams and to actually lay out a plan and strategies (setting goals) to achieve those dreams.
What are your dreams and goals? This isn't what you already have or what you have, but what you want. Have you ever really sat down, thought things through and decided what you really want? Have you ever taken the time to truly reflect and listen to your heart, to see what dreams live within you? Your dreams are there. Everyone has them. They may live right on the surface, or they may be buried deep from years of others telling you they were foolish, but they are there.
A dream is a type of target. It is the ultimate realization of your desire or wish. Dreams sometimes can be big and unrealistic. It also doesn’t have to be as focused or specific as goals. Some dreams could look five to ten years into your future; others could even span your entire lifetime. Dreams are the ultimate destination, while goals are the intermediate stops along the way. Dreams represent what you want and why, while goals represent your plan to get you there.
Goals are much more specific and focused than dreams. However, having dreams allows you to keep sight of the big picture and periodically evaluate the goals to determine if they are still helping you move towards your dream. Goals and dreams complement each other. If you only have dreams without any goals to support them, you can easily feel overwhelmed by the enormity of your dream. The shorter-term goals provide achievable intermediate targets that serve as stepping stones toward your dream.
If you only have goals but no dreams, you can easily fall into the trap of focusing so much on the steps that you lose sight of your destination. You run the risk of forgetting "why" you are pursuing these goals in the first place. Specific short-term goals are not terribly motivating by themselves either; their power comes from their connection to a big inspiring dream.
When you focus only on the next steps, you might also fail to notice wonderful opportunities that would allow you to leapfrog several steps ahead. Dreams allow you to be on the look for these golden opportunities that may not be in line with your current goals, but that are strongly aligned with your dream.
Dreams also help you evaluate whether your overall strategy and associated goals are working or not. Without the dream, you can accomplish goal after goal and not really make any progress. If you focus only on moving from one step to the next and never look up at your destination, you may not notice you are walking around in circles.
Dreams are wonderful things. Goals are what get us there. Make your dreams your goals and get what you want in your life.
Life is too short to not pursue your dreams. Someday your life will near its end and all you will be able to do is look backwards. You can reflect with joy or regret. Those who dream, who set goals and act on them to live out their dreams are those who live lives of joy and have a sense of peace when they near the end of their lives. They have finished well, for themselves and for their families.
Now, lets look at setting goals. I would like to share with 4 things on setting a goal:
- A goal is something you have no idea how to achieve it
- A goal must be something worth failing for
- A goal should be big. Small goal is good but no power. A quote by Benjamin Disraeli: "Its better to set a big goal and not achieve it than to set a small goal and achieve it."
- If you write your goals, Mind your own bloody business! Do not write goals for others but only yourself. In other words, write your own goals!
- Give vision, optimism, hope and direction
- Give power to the spirit
- Make the impossible come true
- Move us easily over our limits
- Remind us of our potentials
- Help us turn our imagination into reality
- Offfer us deep meaning to our lives
- Are pictures of our desires
- Are concerned with both the present and the future
- Are affected by potential, not limits
- Get rid of our self-imposed limitations
- Are not limited by what we can or what we cannot do
- Are the starting point of a journey
- Can begin at childhood and refuse to go away
- Give purpose to every day activity
- Are bigger than life
- Give purpose to life
- Are what we really want, not just what we think we can get
- Goal is the servant of the dream!

How to Communicate Like a Pro by Nido Qubein
5/25/2009 11:41:00 PMHere are six techniques you can use to help you say things simply but persuasively, and even forcefully:
(1) Get your thinking straight. The most common source of confusing messages is muddled thinking. We have an idea we haven't thought through. Or we have so much we want to say that we can't possibly say it. Or we have an opinion that is so strong we can't keep it in. As a result, we are ill prepared when we speak, and we confuse everyone. The first rule of plain talk, then, is to think before you say anything. Organize your thoughts.
(2) Say what you mean. Say exactly what you mean.
(3) Get to the point. Effective communicators don't beat around the bush. If you want someone to buy something, ask for the order. If you want someone to do something, say exactly what you want done.
(4) Be concise. Don't waste words. Confusion grows in direct proportion to the number of words used. Speak plainly and briefly, using the shortest, most familiar words.
(5) Be real. Each of us has a personality -- a blending of traits, thought patterns and mannerisms -- which can aid us in communicating clearly. For maximum clarity, be natural, and let the real you come through. You'll be more convincing and much more comfortable.
(6) Speak in images. The cliché that "a picture is worth a thousand words" isn't exactly true (try explaining the Internal Revenue code using nothing but pictures). But words that help people visualize concepts can be tremendous aids in communicating a message. Once Ronald Reagan's Strategic Defense Initiative became known as Star Wars, its opponents had a powerful weapon against it. The name gave it the image of a far-out, futuristic dream beyond the reach of current technology. Reagan was never able to come up with a more powerful positive image.
Your one-on-one communication will acquire real power if you learn to send messages that are simple, clear, and assertive; if you learn to monitor the hearer to determine that your message was accurately received; and if you learn to obtain the desired response by approaching people with due regard for their behavioral styles.
Your finesse as a communicator will grow as you learn to identify and overcome the obstacles to communication. Practice the six techniques I just mentioned, and you'll find your effectiveness as a message-sender growing steadily.
But sending messages is only half the process of communicating. To be a truly accomplished communicator, you must also cultivate the art of listening.
If you're approaching a railroad crossing around a blind curve, you can send a message with your car horn. But that's not the most important part of your communication task. The communication that counts takes place when you stop, look and listen.
We're all familiar with the warning on the signs at railroad crossings: Stop, Look and Listen. It's also a useful admonition for communication.
It's easy to think of communication as a process of sending messages. But sending is only half the process. Receiving is the other half. So at the appropriate time, we have to stop sending and prepare to receive.
A sign on the wall of Lyndon Johnson's Senate office put it in a down-to-earth way: "When you're talking, you ain't learning."
LISTENING PAYS
Listening pays off daily in the world of business. Smart salespeople have learned that you can talk your way out of a sale, but you can listen your way into one. They listen to their customers to find out what their needs are, then concentrate on filling those needs. Skilled negotiators know that no progress can be made until they have heard and understood what the other side wants.
LISTENING REQUIRES THOUGHT AND CARE
Listening, like speaking and writing, requires thought and care. If you don't concentrate on listening, you won't learn much, and you won't remember much of what you learn.
Some experts claim that professionals earn between 40% and 80% of their pay by listening. Yet, most of us retain only 25% of what we hear. If you can increase your retention and your comprehension, you can increase your effectiveness in the 21st century's Age of Information.
LISTEN WITH YOUR EYES
If you listen only with your ears, you're missing out on much of the message. Good listeners keep their eyes open while listening.
Look for feelings. The face is an eloquent communication medium. Learn to read its messages. While the speaker is delivering a verbal message, the face can be saying, "I'm serious," "Just kidding," "It pains me to be telling you this," or "This gives me great pleasure."
Some non-verbal signals to watch for:
- Rubbing one eye. When you hear "I guess you're right," and the speaker is rubbing one eye, guess again. Rubbing one eye often is a signal that the speaker is having trouble inwardly accepting something.
- Tapping feet. When a statement is accompanied by foot-tapping, it usually indicates a lack of confidence in what is being said.
- Rubbing fingers. When you see the thumb and forefinger rubbing together, it often means that the speaker is holding something back.
- Staring and blinking. If you've made your best offer and the other person stares at the ceiling and blinks rapidly, your offer is under consideration.
- Crooked smiles. Most genuine smiles are symmetrical. And most facial expressions are fleeting. If a smile is noticeably crooked, you're probably looking at a fake smile.
- Eyes that avoid contact. Poor eye contact can be a sign of low self-esteem, but it can also indicate that the speaker is not being truthful.
It would be unwise to make a decision based solely on these visible signals. But they can give you valuable tips on the kind of questions to ask and the kind of answers to be alert for.
GOOD LISTENERS MAKE THINGS EASY
People who are poor listeners will find few who are willing to come to them with useful information.
Good listeners make it easy on those to whom they want to listen. They make it clear that they're interested in what the other person has to say.

Thoughts become things
5/25/2009 02:41:00 PMHello everyone.
I would like to share with you a life script which I suggest you read it carefully and understand it. I got this from a workshop I attended last weekend.
The life script:
The Me I see is the Me I'll be,
If I can hold it in my head, I can hold it in my hands.
The vision that I glorify in my mind,
The ideal that I enthrone in my heart,
This I will build my life by and this I will become.
Mind is the master power that moulds and makes,
And man is mind; and evermore he takes the tools,
of THOUGHT and shaping what he will, brings forth a thousand joys, a thousand ills.
I think in SECRET and it comes to PASS,
Environment is but my LOOKING GLASS.
I am the SUM TOTAL of my THOUGHTS,
I become WHAT I THINK ABOUT,
THOUGHTS become THINGS.

Why Muslims Are Lagging and Jews So Powerful
5/25/2009 12:05:00 PMWhy are Jews so powerful?
By: Dr Farrukh Saleem
(The writer is an Islamabad-based freelance columnist)
There are only 14 million Jews in the world; seven million in the
Jesus of Nazareth was Jewish. Albert Einstein, the most influential scientist of all time and TIME magazine's 'Person of the Century', was a Jew. Sigmund Freud -- id, ego, and superego -- the father of psychoanalysis was a Jew. So were Karl Marx, Paul Samuelson and Milton Friedman.
Here are a few other Jews whose intellectual output has enriched the whole humanity: Benjamin Rubin gave humanity the vaccinating needle. Jonas Salk developed the first polio vaccine. Alert Sabin developed the improved live polio vaccine. Gertrude Elion gave us a leukaemia fighting drug. Baruch Blumberg developed the vaccination for Hepatitis B. Paul Ehrlich discovered a treatment for syphilis (a sexually transmitted disease). Elie Metchnikoff won a Nobel Prize in infectious diseases. Bernard Katz won a Nobel Prize in neuromuscular transmission. Andrew Schally won a Nobel in endocrinology (disorders of the endocrine system; diabetes, hyperthyroidism)... Aaron Beck founded Cognitive Therapy (psychotherapy to treat mental disorders, depression and phobias). Gregory Pincus developed the first oral contraceptive pill. George Wald won a Nobel for furthering our understanding of the human eye. Stanley Cohen won a Nobel in embryology (study of embryos and their development). Willem Kolff came up with the kidney dialysis machine.
Over the past 105 years, 14 million Jews have won 15-dozen Nobel Prizes while only three Nobel Prizes have been won by 1.4 billion Muslims (other than Peace Prizes).
Why are Jews so powerful?
Stanley Mezor invented the first micro-processing chip. Leo Szilard developed the first nuclear chain reactor. Peter Schultz, optical fibre cable; Charles Adler, traffic lights; Benno Strauss, Stainless steel; Isador Kisee sound movies; Emile Berliner, telephone microphone and Charles Ginsburg, videotape recorder.
Famous financiers in the business world who belong to Jewish faith include Ralph Lauren (Polo), Levis Strauss (Levi's Jeans), HowardSchultz (Starbuck's), Sergey Brin (Google), Michael Dell (Dell Computers), Larry Ellison (Oracle), Donna Karan (DKNY), Irv Robbins (Baskin & Robbins) and Bill Rosenberg (Dunkin Donuts).
Richard Levin, President of Yale University, is a Jew. So are Henry Kissinger (American secretary of state), Alan Greenspan (fed chairman under Reagan, Bush, Clinton and Bush), Joseph Lieberman, Madeleine Albright (American secretary of state), Maxim Litvinov (USSR foreign Minister), David Marshal (Singapore's first chief minister), Isaac Isaacs (Governor General of Australia), Benjamin Disraeli (British statesman and author), Yevgeny Primakov (Russian PM), Jorge Sampaio (President of Portugal), Herb Gray (Canadian deputy PM), Pierre Mendes (French PM), Michael Howard (British home secretary), Bruno Kreisky (chancellor of Austria) and Robert Rubin (former American secretary of treasury).
In the media, famous Jews include Wolf Blitzer (CNN), Barbara Walters (ABC News), Eugene Meyer (Washington Post), Henry Grunwald (editor-in-chief Time), Katherine Graham (publisher of The Washington Post), Joseph Lelyyeld (Executive editor, The New York Times), and MaxFrankel (New York Times).
Can you name the most beneficent philanthropist in the history of the world? The name is George Soros, a Jew, who has so far donated a colossal $4 billion most of which has gone as aid to scientists and universities around the world. Second to George Soros is Walter Annenberg, another Jew, who has built a hundred libraries by donating an estimated $2 billion.
At the Olympics, Mark Spitz set a record of sorts by winning seven gold medals. Lenny Krayzelburg is a three- time Olympic gold medallist. Spitz, Krayzelburg and Boris Becker are all Jewish.
Did you know that Harrison Ford, George Burns, Tony Curtis, Charles Bronson, Sandra Bullock, Billy Crystal, Woody Allen, Paul Newman, Peter Sellers, Dustin Hoffman, Michael Douglas, Ben Kingsley, Kirk Douglas, William Shatner, Jerry Lewis and Peter Falk are all Jewish?
As a matter of fact,
To be certain,
William James Sidis, with an IQ of 250-300, is the brightest human who ever existed. Guess what faith did he belong to?
So, why are Jews so powerful?
Answer: Education.
Why are Muslims so powerless?
There are an estimated 1,476,233,470 Muslims on the face of the planet: one billion in Asia, 400 million in Africa, 44 million in Europe and six million in the
Ever wondered why Muslims are so powerless?
Here is why:
There are 57 member-countries of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC), and all of them put together have around 500 universities; one university for every three million Muslims. The
As per data collected by the UNDP, literacy in the Christian world stands at nearly 90 per cent and 15 Christian- majority states have a literacy rate of 100 per cent. A Muslim-majority state, as a sharp contrast, has an average literacy rate of around 40 per cent and there is no Muslim-majority state with a literacy rate of 100 per cent. Some 98 per cent of the 'literates' in the Christian world had completed primary school, while less than 50 per cent of the 'literates' in the Muslim world did the same. Around 40 per cent of the 'literates' in the Christian world attended university while no more than two per cent of the 'literate s' in the Muslim world did the same.
Muslim-majority countries have 230 scientists per one million Muslims. The

The Muslim world lacks the capacity to produce knowledge.
Daily newspapers per 1,000 people and number of book titles per million are two indicators of whether knowledge is being diffused in a society. In
Conclusion:
The Muslim world is failing to diffuse knowledge.
Exports of high technology products as a percentage of total exports are an important indicator of knowledge application.
Conclusion:
The Muslim world is failing to apply knowledge.
Why are Muslims powerless?
Because we aren't producing knowledge.
Why are Muslims powerless?
Because we aren't diffusing knowledge.
Why are Muslims powerless?
Because we aren't applying knowledge.
And, the future belongs to knowledge-based societies.
Interestingly, the combined annual GDP of 57 OIC-countries is under $2 trillion.
Oil rich Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait and Qatar collectively produce goods and services (mostly oil) worth $500 billion; Spain alone produces goods and services worth over $1 trillion, Catholic Poland $489 billion and Buddhist Thailand $545 billion. (Muslim GDP as a percentage of world GDP is fast declining).
So, why are Muslims so powerless?
Answer: Lack of education!
All we do is shout to Allah whole day and blame everyone else for our multiple failures..!....
Create Your Own Mission Statement for Your Personal and Professional Life by Dr. Denis Waitley
5/19/2009 09:36:00 PMTwo of life's greatest tragedies are: Never to have had a great mission in life, and to have fully reached it so there is no challenge remaining.
1. There is the reflection of the person you are today.
2. There is the image of who you will be in the future.
Looking at my own life, I am incredibly different in many respects from the person I was ten years ago.
As you reflect on your past and anticipate the future, understand that virtually nothing you have experienced has been wasted. It all blends together into wisdom and knowledge, and creates your own unique brand of cultural diversity.
Action Idea: In your professional life, what is most important for you to achieve in the remainder of your career? In your personal life, what is most important for you to achieve in the remainder of your life? Find a close friend or associate you trust and network with often, and challenge each other to continuously strive to reach these objectives.
As you consider your mission in life, you may want to use this action step as your guidepost for the 21st Century: Chase Your Passion, Not Your Pension. Passion in your purpose will help you take control of your life, and also give you one other advantage that is not widely recognized: About ten more years of life, on average. Pursuit of a goal wears out very few people. But they rust out by the hundreds of thousands when their pursuit of happiness turns into a geriatric park. A job is something you do for money. A career is something you do because you have an inner calling to do it. You want to do it. You love doing it. You're excited when you do it. And you'd do it even if you were paid nothing beyond food and the basics. You'd do it because it's your life.
Be inspired to learn as much as you can, gain skills as much as you can, to find a cause that benefits humankind and you'll be sought after for your quality of service and dedication to excellence.
My nephew and niece, David and Heidi, at the ages of 30, had three little girls 7, 5 and 2. On an anniversary some years ago, they went out dancing and the margarita she had must have been one powerful fertility drug. She became pregnant that night, and with no incidence of multiple births in our family, eight months later, she delivered quadruplet girls, prematurely.
I hurried down to the Children's Hospital in
But that's not the point of the story. In addition to seeing them as wonderful parents devoted to their seven little girls, my attention was focused on the neo-natal nurses caring for the newborn quadruplets, weighing between a pound and a half to two and a half pounds. Caring passionately for them like little birds in nests. Oblivious of quitting time. Not hearing the lunch bell at noon. Doing what they loved. Involved in helping improve the quality of life. We all can't be Tiger Woods, or Barbra Streisand, or Jonas Salk. But we can chase our passion, not our pension. You'll always do well, what you love most.
Action Idea: If you had the time and circumstances allowed, what is one of your most passionate desires in life you would like to pursue? It could be a new business idea, music, action, sports, or community service. Starting tomorrow, chase that passion a little bit at a time.

Most talk about everything from being friendly, to smiling, to having the right handshake and making sure you have your ‘elevator speech’ down. Law of Attraction
5/08/2009 02:08:00 AMCan I take it that you have probably watched the video ‘The Secret’ you may have been amazed enough to read about how to use the Law of Attraction in order of attracting prosperity into your life. I would like to share with you the meaning of Law of Attraction and how it works which I have gathered after doing some reading and understanding.
What is the Law of Attraction? Lets understand the Law of Attraction. Understanding the Law of Attraction is the key to create the life of your dreams. Many people refer to the Law of Attraction as a "secret", it is neither a new concept nor a recent discovery. It has been an integral part of the great teachings of the ages for several millenia.
Law of Attraction is the most powerful law in the universe. It is simple in concept but practice is necessary. But once you "get it", there is no looking back! It will be part of you forever. The Law of Attraction is like gravity. It is always in effect, always in motion. It is working in your life at this very moment. The Law of Attraction says that you will attract into your life whatever you focus on. If you focused on positive things, you will automatically attract more positive things into your life. If you focused on negative things, then that is what will be attracted into your life.
You are always in a state of creation and you always have been. You are creating reality in every moment of every day. You are creating your future with every single thought either consciously or subconsciously. The Law of Attraction never stops working. By understanding just how this law operates is a key to your success.
So, how does Law of Attraction work? Simple. Like attracts like. If you are happy, excited, enthusiastic, passionate, happy, joyful, appreciative or abundant, then you're sending out positive energy. On the other hand, if you are bored, anxious, stressed, angry, resentful or sad; you're sending out negative energy. Through Law of Attraction, the universe will respond to both of these vibration. It does not decide, it just respond to whatever energy you are creating and it gives you more of the same. You get back exactly what you put out there.
Your energy vibrations will attract energy back to you of the same frequencies. Your energy frequencies need to be in tune with what you want to attract in your life. Just like a radio wave. You frequency has to be the same frequency of what you want to receive. For instance, you can't tune in to FM104.5 and expect to get FM94.5. It wont happen. It has to be synchronize between your energy and the energy you attract.
So in order to have or create a positive future, you need to keep your energy, thoughts and feelings in the positive range. Once you understand the law and how it works, you can begin to consciously and intentionally create a better life. You can choose to respond to situation diferently, choose to focus and think about things you want in life, choose to experience the things that makes you feel good and choose to participate in the creation of your future.
You may have heard some of the following sayings:
- Birds of a feather flock together
- What you give is what you get
- What you sow is what you reap
- What goes around comes around
- Be careful what you wish for
All of these sayings are related to the law of attraction. Once you understand this universal law you can start using it to your advantage, to create that which you want, not that which you don’t want.
The first thing to remember when using the law of attraction is try not to force anything into happening. The harder you try to get something, the more you begin to fear not having it and with the law of attraction you end up getting exactly the opposite of what you want. The best idea is to relax and think about what you want from the heart. Imagine what it is you want to attract into your life and just hold that thought. Using the law of attraction is not a difficult process at all. It is the simplest, most straight forward and most powerful law in the universe.

Increase your self confidence
5/08/2009 01:55:00 AMHi everyone.
Do you do what you believe to be right, even if others mock or criticize you for it? Are you willing to take risks and got the extra mile to achieve better things? Do you admit your mistakes & vows to learn from them and do you wait for others to congratulate you on your accomplishments? If your answer are yes for the above, congratulation! You have self-confidence and you have shown confident through your behavior.
People who lack of self-confidence can find it difficult to become successful. Therefore self-confidence is very important in almost every aspect of our lives. Assuming all other things being equal, self-confidence is always the single ingredient that distinguishes a successful person from someone less successful.
People has low self-confidence always work hard to cover up mistakes and praying that he can fix the problem before anyone is the wiser. He likes to stay in his comfort zone, fear of failure and so avoid taking risks. He also governs his behavior based on what other people think and dismissing compliments offhandedly.
I hope you find the article above useful. In the next article, I'll share with you some tips to increase your self confidence.

Plan of Success
5/07/2009 08:30:00 PMHi everyone.
In life, business, financial or anything for that matter; there are way to be successful. In order to be successful you need to plan your success. The first important plan of succes is setting your goals or in other words 'goal setting'.
Goal setting is important in life. Not only do goals give our lives direction, they also provide a sense of meaning and something to live for. Think of a goal like a steering wheel on a car. A car without a steering wheel is practically useless as you have limited control of where you are going.
A steering wheel not only orients a car and gives it direction, but it also helps the car to get to where it is going. Likewise goal setting helps to orient our lives, gives them direction and a sense of accomplishment and achievement. There is a saying: “If you don’t know where you are going, there is a fair chance you will end up somewhere else”.
Let me share with you an inspirational story:

To celebrate his 99th birthday Japanese mountaineer Keizo Miura set out with his 70 year old son, 37 year old grandson and great grandson on an adventure to climb and ski down Mont Blanc -
Moral to the story: “You are never too old to have life adventures and to set and achieve new targets!”
Now, let’s look at the way to set goals. It’s called the SMART way. Heard of it? A SMART goal is one that is Specific, Measurable, Action, Realistic and Time stamped.
- Specific – Your objectives need to be specific, what exactly do you hope to achieve and why?
- Measurable – Your objectives need to be measurable. You need a way of measuring your progress to see whether you’re on target.
- Action – You need an action plan. How to achieve what you want? What are the necessary steps? What are your daily, weekly and monthly tasks?
Remember Goals + Actions = Results. Therefore you need to make a commitment towards implementing your action plan.
- Realistic – Is your action plan and objective achievable?
- Time stamped – Put a date on achieving your targets and ensure that you remain accountable.
Write your objectives in present tense. This means that you write as if you have already achieved it.
Vision Board
Create your own vision board. Prominently display your goals in your office or somewhere you can review it every day. You may even wish to attach some photos, so that it becomes more personalized and visually stimulating in drawing you toward continuous action.
“Goal setting process can be used to improve any aspect of your life. It doesn’t matter whether you’re trying to set a business goal or improve your fitness, this process can help to get you there.” – Saiful Zaman Dzulkifly
The second and most important plan of success is taking action or in simple term 'action'. You can set yourself the most achievable goal in the world, but if you fail to act upon it, the chance of success is slim.
Goals + Actions = Results
Developing and making a commitment is an absolute MUST if you want to succeed in business. Just like any goal in life, setting the goal is easy, taking the action to achieve it is the hard part.
“Destiny is not a matter of chance; it is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved” – William Jennings Bryan
“Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty, and persistence” – Colin Powell
In action plan, it is important to understand that to achieve your goal it requires commitment. On the other hand, you must understand that it needs to be fuelled by passion, desire and persistence for it to take you to your destination. Therefore you must be willing to make a commitment to your business to ensure your success.
However, you need to remember that taking action doesn’t necessarily ensure success, however if you are willing to make a commitment and learn from your mistakes, persistence will be very rewarding.
“Ambition is the path to success. Persistence is the vehicle you arrive in.” – Bill Bradley
After setting your goals and action plans, how to support yourself in achieving it? Well, there is one way which is the third and very most important plan of success; keeping focus or in simple term 'focus'. You can set your goals and act upon it but without keeping focus the chance of success is slim.
You’ve set your goals and have taken action with your action plans. So, how to keep yourselves on track? There are many ways to keep yourself on track:
Take a break
Occasionally all you need to do to regain focus is just take a break for a few minutes. Other times you might need to take a long holiday to feel the benefits but the point is, ever so often you need to get away from your work, clear your mind of it and just think about something else instead.
Getting plenty of sleep allows your body and mind to recharge. If you’ve ever tried to focus on your work when you are tired or lacking in energy you will know what I mean.
Categorize
All activities can be sorted into categories:
- important & urgent (do it now)
- important but not urgent (can wait but shouldn't)
- urgent but not important (driven by a time pressure, often someone else's)
- not important & not urgent (enough said)
Plan, plan, plan
Your to-do list is full, your calendar is packed and you have colleagues knocking on your day demanding your attention. With all of that banging around your head it’s no wonder focus is hard to find. So, come up with a plan. Cut through all the chaos and figure out what you really want to do, how you’re going to do it and when you want to do it. Get it all out of your head and into a trusted system.
Just Do It
Focus doesn’t always come straightaway. Sometimes you look for distractions because you find it difficult to get started doing something. Inertia can be challenge - its easier to keep doing something else (watching tv) rather than start something new (go for a walk in the park). Don’t wait around till that focus comes. The way to overcome inertia is to just begin. Shove yourself into new activity with a commitment to stick with it. Once you have some momentum behind you focus will often follow.
Figure out the next actionable step
Speaking of momentum, you can fly through your work if you know what the next actionable step is. Rather than taking on some broad work that covers all sorts of areas, pick out the one task that will move things forward. If you are struggling to empty your inbox it’s because you’re focusing on working your way through the entire contents and not just about getting that first email out of the way.
Remove distractions
It’s impossible to get into that special place where you’re totally focused on what you’re doing when you have your mobile phone ringing every five minutes. Whether it be your phone, noisy colleagues or a messy desk, deal with them before you sit down to work.
Read your goals daily
Use the daily goal checklist to tick off as you go the daily reading of your goals. Also good to write at the top what good things happened so you can see your progress.
Set your days priorities the day before
It really helps you be productive!!
Be Accountable
When you choose to be procrastinate, be more accountable to yourself and others.
Well, thats it. I hope you may find it useful. Feel free to give some feedbacks. Thanks.

Vitamins for the Mind by Jim Rohn
5/06/2009 12:14:00 PMConcentration
The best advice I ever came across on the subject of concentration is: Wherever you are, be there.
When you work, work. When you play, play. Don't mix the two.
Give whatever you are doing and whoever you are with the gift of attention.
On the way to work, concentrate on the way - not the work.
Pay attention. Don't just stagger through the day.
Vitamins for the Mind is a weekly sampling of original quotes, on a specific topic, taken from The Treasury of Quotes by Jim Rohn (TTOQ). TTOQ, a beautiful, burgundy hardbound book with gold foil lettering, is a collection of over 365 quotes on 60 topics gathered from Jim's personal journals, seminars and books spanning over 39 years.

Facing the Enemies Within by Jim Rohn
5/06/2009 12:11:00 PMWe are not born with courage, but neither are we born with fear. Maybe some of our fears are brought on by your own experiences, by what someone has told you, by what you've read in the papers. Some fears are valid, like walking alone in a bad part of town at two o'clock in the morning. But once you learn to avoid that situation, you won't need to live in fear of it.
Fears, even the most basic ones, can totally destroy our ambitions. Fear can destroy fortunes. Fear can destroy relationships. Fear, if left unchecked, can destroy our lives. Fear is one of the many enemies lurking inside us.
Let me tell you about five of the other enemies we face from within. The first enemy that you've got to destroy before it destroys you is indifference. What a tragic disease this is. "Ho-hum, let it slide. I'll just drift along." Here's one problem with drifting: you can't drift your way to the top of the mountain.
The second enemy we face is indecision. Indecision is the thief of opportunity and enterprise. It will steal your chances for a better future. Take a sword to this enemy.
The third enemy inside is doubt. Sure, there's room for healthy skepticism. You can't believe everything. But you also can't let doubt take over. Many people doubt the past, doubt the future, doubt each other, doubt the government, doubt the possibilities and doubt the opportunities. Worse of all, they doubt themselves. I'm telling you, doubt will destroy your life and your chances of success. It will empty both your bank account and your heart. Doubt is an enemy. Go after it. Get rid of it.
The fourth enemy within is worry. We've all got to worry some. Just don't let it conquer you. Instead, let it alarm you. Worry can be useful. If you step off the curb in New York City and a taxi is coming, you've got to worry. But you can't let worry loose like a mad dog that drives you into a small corner. Here's what you've got to do with your worries: drive them into a small corner. Whatever is out to get you, you've got to get it. Whatever is pushing on you, you've got to push back.
The fifth interior enemy is over-caution. It is the timid approach to life. Timidity is not a virtue; it's an illness. If you let it go, it'll conquer you. Timid people don't get promoted. They don't advance and grow and become powerful in the marketplace. You've got to avoid over-caution.
Do battle with the enemy. Do battle with your fears. Build your courage to fight what's holding you back, what's keeping you from your goals and dreams. Be courageous in your life and in your pursuit of the things you want and the person you want to become.
To Your Success,
Jim Rohn

Making money during recession
5/06/2009 12:10:00 AMIf you only create value but don’t deliver it, then your value isn’t being received by anyone. So how can you receive value (such as money) in return? On the other hand, if you only deliver value but don’t create it, then you’re delivering someone else’s value. In the short run it is not a terrible approach but it’s a short-sighted long-term strategy if this is all you do. There’s nothing special about delivering other people’s value. Anyone can do it.
The most viable long-term strategy is to create and deliver value. You can mix and match other strategies with it, but this should be your primary method of income generation. If you're good at creating and delivering value, you can basically write your own ticket and enjoy lots of abundance.
People who create and deliver value are doing better during recession as comparison to people who do the opposite way. Those not creating and delivering value are seeing their finances grow worse. This leads them to panic, so they head even further away from creating and delivering value (such as by chasing lame money-making schemes), which only quickens the decline to insolvency.
I know it seems logical that if you’re seeing your finances decline, then you should focus single-mindedly on trying to make more money as quickly as possible.
The correct strategy is that when you see your finances decline and you want to increase your income, then you need to focus on creating and delivering more value. If you do that, then you’re doing the very thing that will generate a sustainable income increase.
What is money? Money is simply a medium for exchanging value. Money is what you receive in exchange for the value you create and deliver. If you can increase your outflow of value creation and delivery, you can increase your inflow of money received. If you try to increase the inflow of money without increasing the outflow of value, you’re trying to get something for nothing.
So how does one generate income from creating and delivering value? Making money is the easy part. If you can create and deliver value to people, the income opportunities will literally come to you. People will practically line up with ways for you to make money.
If you’re good at creating value, you can connect with other people who are good at delivering value. They deliver your value such as by selling it, and they pay you a royalty, commission, or licensing fee.
Now if you’re good at delivering value, you can generate income by plugging other people’s value into your delivery system. It doesn’t require a lot of work to do this. Once you have a system for delivering value, you can plug other people’s value into it and generate lots of extra income.
If you have the means to create and deliver strong value, you’ll have so many opportunities. You can plug the value you create into other people’s delivery systems, so you can earn ongoing royalties and such. You generate residual income.
Apart from that you can plug other people’s creative value into your own delivery system. You pay them a royalty on the sales, or they pay you as an affiliate. Once again you generate ongoing residual income. As long as you’re selective about the products you promote, doing your best to ensure that they provide strong value, everyone is happy, and everyone wins.
You can also plug your value into your own delivery system. It simply means that you could create and sell your own products direct.
Once you develop the habit of creating and delivering value, it’s pretty hard to fail. However, it’s very easy to get distracted along the way. You have to stay focused on creating and delivering value. Everything that detracts from this focus should be viewed as an expense, obstacle, or just plain evil.
Trying to make money is itself a distraction. When you focus on making money, too many things will catch your eye. You’ll run around like a chicken with its head cut off, chasing down all sorts of things that look like opportunities. You’ll waste a lot of time and energy if you chase dollars.
Creating and delivering value is simpler. This focus is well-aligned with truth, love, and power. When you create and deliver value, you can be open and honest about what you’re doing. You get to spend most of your time doing stuff you’d naturally enjoy. It’s also very empowering to share your value with others and to see that you’re making a positive difference in people’s lives.
Once you make a habit of creating and delivering value as your primary career focus, you won’t want to go back.
I hope this article helps. Important to remember: create value and deliver value.
