My first 8 days in PIHMS

Labels:
Hi everyone...

How's everyone doing? Good? It's been a long time. I have not been writing for the past few weeks, I guess.

Anyway, I would like to share with you my days in campus for the past 8 days.

Well, here goes.

On my first day in PIHMS, I arrived on Friday January 29th 2010 at about 7pm (New Zealand time). The room was nice, simple and quite big. Before that I continue, my trip to New Plymouth was good except for flight delays from Kuala Lumpur to Auckland and Auckland to New Plymouth.

From now on, I'll PIHMS as my campus. My campus is quite big. There are 3 blocks of accommodations. They are called block 700, 800 and 900. I'm staying in block 700. Back to my days in my campus. Once arrived in campus and got my room, I immediately went up to my room and began unpacked all my clothes, books and other stuff.

After unpacking, I went into campus lounge and watch tv. Soon after that went straight to bed. Oh yea, I did not have any roommate at that time. I mean my roommate has not arrived. As for the next two days which falls on Saturday and Sunday, I woke up and went shopping opposite my campus. It is called The Warehouse. They sell cheap stuff. I bought some clothes, amenities, notebooks and other stuff for my room and myself.

Had dinner at the restaurant in my campus. Talking about meals, PIHMS provide meals to students for breakfast, lunch and dinner. After having dinner, went to watch tv in the lounge and after that went straight to bed.

From Monday till Friday, went for induction or other words orientation for new students. I am a direct entry semester 3 student. During the induction program, there were semester 1, direct entry semester 5 and other direct entry semester 3. During the induction, was introduced to PIHMS as a whole. Meaning, the lecturers in charge of new students; briefed us on rules & regulations, procedures, safety and security of the campus especially the dos and don'ts of staying in campus.

Other than that, were given on 3 tests such as literacy, numeracy and essay so that the lecturers know whether we need help or not. Apart from induction on campus and test, the lecturer gave us a tour of the city. Well, it's not exactly a tour. It's basically a treasure hunt competition-like. We have to find out how many ethnic restaurants, how many hair salons, collect brochures and a lot of other things. End of competition, we were allowed to roam around the city. I managed to get some time to go to ANZ bank and opened an account.

We left the city and went back to campus. As for the last day of orientation which falls on Friday February 5th 2010, did not do anything much except that I went for briefing on work placement after studying six months. The work placement is six months and guess what? We will be getting paid once we go for work placement. It's about $13.00 per hour. If you want to how much I'm getting per month and for the whole six months, do the maths. Later on Friday evening, watch tv and went to bed.

Well that is it for now. Will continue writing my next journal tomorrow. That reminds me, I'm going to write about personal development soon. Hopefully as soon as possible.

See ya!
