Rocky Balboa's inspirational speech

1/14/2010 10:19:00 AM

Hi everyone....

I would like to share something very inspirational to me. Have you seen a movie called 'Rocky Balboa'? There's a scene when his son, with whom he has an estranged relationship; blames Rocky’s big shadow for the way his life is and angrily asks him to stop the fight because not only had he been the offspring that didn’t quite shine, he would now be part of a laughable ending. Do you remember this one particular scene which happened outside his restaurant? Do you remember what happened after that? Well, I do.

Rocky gave an impassioned speech about how his son had forgotten who he was. Having done so, he had allowed other people to define him. This situation about his son made Rocky feel frustrated. Then Rocky tells him....

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it.....

You, me or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done....

Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hits and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you are because of him or her or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain't you. You're better than that!....

I'm always gonna love you no matter what. No matter what happens, you're my son and you're my blood. You're the best thing in my life. But until you start believing in yourself, ya ain't gonna have a life. Don't forget to visit your mother."

After listening to Rocky's speech, his son snaps out of it and ends up being with Rocky at ringside. I love this part of the story, mostly because it affirms something I’ve realized more and more to be true.

Rocky's speech to his son was very inspiring. It had taught me something important and beneficial to me. Well not only to me but all of you readers out there. It's basically to my understanding is about positive thinking, being true to yourself and believe in yourself.

Whatever you do or plan to do, do what you think is best for yourself. Do not let anyone intimidate or bully or tell you what to do. In life there are obstacles and don't let it stop you. In order to be successful, don't just do but you need to be yourself and believe in yourself. Believing in yourself is one of the first steps to success. If you don't have confidence in yourself, it will be difficult to succeed in anything.

We Are The World

1/13/2010 10:56:00 AM
Hi everyone....

I couldn't sleep and its 3am right now. Few hours ago, on my way to Starbucks Sunway Pyramid; LiteFM station played my favorite song written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie. It's called We Are The World.

Was thinking about it and humming the song. I still kept thinking and humming to it. Then I started to search for We Are The World music video in Youtube.com and found it. Posted in Facebook.

Guess what? On my way back home from Sunway Pyramid, LiteFM played the song again. I can't stop thinking about it till now. Started to play the video and sang the song. Kept playing the video non-stop and singing to the song non-stop. I know, call me crazy but I love that song. I have not heard it for a long time.

Therefore I would like to share with you the music video and the lyrics. Check out below. Enjoy! :)

There comes a time

When we heed a certain call

When the world must come together as one

There are people dying

And it's time to lend a hand to life

The greatest gift of all

We can't go on

Pretending day by day

That someone somewhere will soon make a change

We are all a part of

God's great big family

And the truth, you know love is all we need

[Chorus]

We are the world

We are the children

We are the ones who make a brighter day

So let's start giving

There's a choice we're making

We're saving our own lives

It's true we'll make a better day

Just you and me

Send them your heart

So they'll know that someone cares

And their lives will be stronger and free

As God has shown us by turning stone to bread

So we all must lend a helping hand

[Chorus]

We are the world

We are the children

We are the ones who make a brighter day

So let's start giving

There's a choice we're making

We're saving our own lives

It's true we'll make a better day

Just you and me

When you're down and out

There seems no hope at all

But if you just believe

There's no way we can fall

Well, well, well, well, let us realize

That a change will only come

When we stand together as one

[Chorus]

We are the world

We are the children

We are the ones who make a brighter day

So let's start giving

There's a choice we're making

We're saving our own lives

It's true we'll make a better day

Just you and me

Facts about Law of Attraction

1/11/2010 01:10:00 AM
Hey everyone....

Some of you might be wondering what is Law of Attraction and what are the facts about law of attraction.

A question about law of attraction; you can refer to my previous article from the link below:

Now let's look at the facts on law of attraction.

People might tell you the law of attraction is not real. There is really no need to listen to such talk. Just try and find out yourself.

The law of attraction is a law of science. Some people are put off by the fact that the law of attraction cannot be “proved” in the conventional scientific way. But that does not stop it from being a law of science, just like the law of gravity. Indeed, some authorities have argued that the law of gravity is itself a “special case” of the law of attraction.

The law of attraction always works. Does not matter whether you use it or not. It will still work, bringing you more of whatever you are giving your attention to. The way to use it is to focus your attention on those things you want and away from the things you do not want.

Everyone can use law of attraction. Start using it right now. You can use it to change your life for the better. It a simple process and in fact there’s no special equipment for it.

Everything you see and have around you is what you yourself have attracted. If you do not like some of it, you can change by giving your attention to those things that you do like.

If you use the law of attraction, you can be, have or do anything you want. The universe is literally limitless and abundant. It is waiting to give you exactly what you want. It has always been doing that but by giving your attention to things you do not like, you may in the past have attracted those things to you. Now it’s time to start attracting those things you do want.

Lastly, when using law of attraction, there is nothing to worry about!

Perception

1/11/2010 12:54:00 AM
Hi everyone....

I would like to share with you an article which I received in an email. The article is something to think about. Check out article below and let me know your opinion.

Washington, DC Metro Station on a cold January morning in 2007. The man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time approx. 2 thousand people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. After 3 minutes a middle aged man noticed there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds and then hurried to meet his schedule.

4 minutes later:

The violinist received his first dollar: a woman threw the money in the hat and, without stopping, continued to walk.

6 minutes:

A young man leaned against the wall to listen to him, then looked at his watch and started to walk again.

10 minutes:

A 3-year old boy stopped but his mother tugged him along hurriedly. The kid stopped to look at the violinist again, but the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. Every parent, without exception, forced their children to move on quickly.

45 minutes:

The musician played continuously. Only 6 people stopped and listened for a short while. About 20 gave money but continued to walk at their normal pace. The man collected a total of $32.

1 hour:

He finished playing and silence took over. No one noticed. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition.

No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the greatest musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a violin worth $3.5 million dollars. Two days before Joshua Bell sold out a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100.

This is a true story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste and people's priorities. The questions raised: in a common place environment at an inappropriate hour, do we perceive beauty? Do we stop to appreciate it? Do we recognize talent in an unexpected context?

One possible conclusion reached from this experiment could be this: If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world, playing some of the finest music ever written, with one of the most beautiful instruments ever made.... How many other things are we missing?

Keep Your Mind Free by Dr. Napoleon Hill

1/07/2010 11:11:00 PM

An open mind is a free mind.

The person who closes his mind to new ideas, concepts and people is locking a door that enslaves his own mentality. Intolerance is a two-edged scythe that on its backswing cuts off opportunities and lines of communication. When you open your mind, you give your imagination freedom to act for you.

It’s hard to realize now that less than six decades ago there were men who laughed at the Wright Brothers’ experiments at flight. And barely three decades ago, Lindbergh could scarcely find backers for his trans-Atlantic flight. Today, men of vision freely predict man will soon fly to the moon – but no one’s laughing. It’s the scoffers who are held in scorn.

A closed mind is a sign of a static personality. It lets progress pass it by and hence can never take advantage of the opportunities progress offers.

Only if you have an open mind can you grasp the full impact of the first rule of the science of success: “Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve.”

It would be well for you to take stock of yourself. Are you among those who say “I can” and “It will be done” or do you fall in the group that says “Nobody can” – at the very moment somebody else is accomplishing it? An open mind requires faith – in yourself, your fellow man and the Creator who laid out a pattern of progress for Man and his universe.

The days of superstition are gone. But the shadow of prejudice is as dark as ever. You can come out into the light by closely examining your own personality. Do you make decisions based on reason and logic rather than on emotion and preconceived ideas? Do you listen closely, attentively and thoughtfully to the other fellow’s arguments? Do you seek for facts rather than hearsay and rumor?

The human mentality withers unless in constant contact with the stimulating influence of fresh thought. The Communists, in their brain-washing technique, know that the quickest way to break a man’s will is to isolate his mind, cutting him off from books, newspapers, radio and other normal channels of intellectual communication.

Under such circumstances, the intellect dies for lack of nourishment. Only the strongest will and the purest faith can save it.

Is it possible that you have imprisoned your mind in a social and cultural concentration camp? Have you subjected yourself to a brain-washing of your own making, isolating you from ideas that could lead to success? If so, it’s time to sweep aside the bars of prejudice that imprison your intellect.

Open your mind and set it free!

Your dream start now!

1/07/2010 11:04:00 PM

Hi everyone….

How is everyone doing especially in this New Year? Do you have dreams? Have you started it?

If you have dreams which I’m sure all of you have, dreams starts today. You dream starts now. I mean start taking action to achieve your dreams.

What will your life be like when you’ve achieved your most deeply held dreams? Let’s look at how you can start living your dreams this very day.

  • Do you have a dream, a vision of the life you wish to live?
  • How specific is that dream and how clear is that vision?
  • How do you intend to reach it?
  • Is there any obstacles standing your way and what are the obstacles?
  • Are your fears holding you back or are you using them to move you forward?

Don’t let fears control over you. Take advantage of your fears. Your fears can lead you to success. Fear is an intense emotion but that doesn’t mean it has to control you or even stop you. Fear can prepare you and push you forward just as strongly as it can hold you back. Fear heightens your awareness and increases your physical strength. Fear brings your mind to sharp focus. With all that going for you, does it make sense to just run and hide? Obviously not because fear gets you in shape to take action!

Are you waiting for things to get better before moving ahead? Don’t wait for things to get better. Successful dreams do not come to you in a snap of your finger. If you’re serious about success, start taking action today. If you’re waiting for things to be perfect, you’ll wait forever and nothing will ever get done.

The way to achieve is to bloom where you’re planted, to do what you can, where you are with what you have. It’s easy to make excuses for not taking action. “If only I had more hours in the day. If only I had a better job. If only I could meet the right person.” But excuses won’t bring any value to you. You’ve got to change your “if only” into an “I will.” “I will make better use of my time. I will work on improving my career. I will create and nurture my relationships.”

Take a chance. Believe in yourself. Your circumstances will improve if and when you make the effort. Start where you are right now. You have everything it takes to reach for whatever you desire. Stop wishing. Use your time, energy, thoughts and efforts to make it happen! Trust me! You’ll be glad you did!

Malacca trip - (January 2nd - 3rd 2010)

1/03/2010 10:18:00 AM
Malacca (Melaka) trip was fun. I went to Malacca with 3 friends; Tomoko, Anna Turus and Francesco. They are visitors from other country. In fact they are here in KL as interns except for Francesco. Francesco is here on holiday.

We left for Malacca on January 2nd by bus. The bus was Transnasional Bus. Tickets were bought by Tomoko. The journey to Malacca was short. It took only about 2 hours. It was an interesting journey I might say. Why interesting? Well, it's interesting because it was freezing cold inside the bus. We arrived Malacca Sentral at 930pm.

Once we reached Malacca Sentral, we took another bus to the city. We took bus number 17. During the journey to the city, inside the bus it was noisy. There were about 4 people were talking loud and laughing in the bus. I asked one of them where to stop as we need to go to a hostel at Jalan Chan Koon Cheng. They were helpful and told us to get down at Equatorial Hotel.

We got down at Equatorial Hotel and walk to the hostel. The hostel name was 'Little Nyonya Youth Hostel'. The hostel was nice, simple yet comfortable. Once we reached the hostel, we decided to go for a walk and have dinner. It was at 1030pm. We went to Jonker Street and had drinks at the bar near Geographer Bar. Then we went to look for a place to eat, unfortunately there were no halal restaurants in Jonker Street. We walk decided to walk further out from Jonker Street and found a malay restaurant. We had rice, chicken and asam pedas fish. After dinner, we went for a walk for a while and then head back to the hostel.

We got back to the hostel at about 130am. Once reached the hostel, we head straight for bed except for myself. I couldn't sleep. I sat in the hostel's living room and did some reading. At about 3am, I felt sleepy and slept on the sofa. The weird part is suddenly I woke up at 630am! You know what? I felt fresh. Weird. Very weird. Wanted to woke my other 3 friends but decided against it. So I decided to do a little bit more reading and took shower. I went out to buy newspaper and by the time I reached the hostel to wake them up, I was too late as they woke up...hehe. They woke up at 9am.

The second day in Malacca, we went sight-seeing but before that we had breakfast. While having breakfast, Anna got a call from Eunji. Eunji and Ranmi had arrived Malacca Sentral. Anna handed her phone to me, I told Eunji and Ranmi to get on a bus number 17 and get down at Equatorial Hotel. Also told them to give me a call once they have reached Equatorial Hotel. Oh yes, during breakfast; Tomoko had her first nasi lemak and Francesco had his first roti india.

After breakfast we went to A'Famosa. While looking around in A'Famosa, I received a call from Eunji. Immediately went to the bus stop to get Eunji and Ranmi and brought them to A'Famosa and met with the rest. Continued with sight-seeing. Visited Stadhuys, St. Paul's Church, Christ Church, Dutch Square and Old Portuguese Ship. We went for a cruise along Malacca river. It was nice, interesting and informative.

We had lunch at a food court opposite the Old Portuguese Ship. Then we head off to Jonker Street and did lil bit of shopping. Jonker Street is a place full of antique shops, souvenior shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes. After a long walk, we rest at a cafe called Geographer Cafe. Decided to visit St. John's Fort which took at least half an hour. After walking for few minutes, went to the bank as need more cash. Soon after that decided not to go ahead with visiting St. John's Fort. At that time it was already 515pm.

Sent Eunji and Ranmi to the bus stand in front of Melaka Hotel. Myself, Francesco, Anna and Tomoko went back to the hostel to freshen up, packed and took a group photo. at 635pm, we left the hostel, head to the bust stand in front of Melaka Hotel and took a bus to Malacca Sentral.

Had dinner in Malacca Sentral and finally left Malacca at 8pm by Transnasional Bus. Arrived Puduraya at 1015pm. Bid each other goodbye and I went home via LRT and taxi.

The Malacca trip was fun and memorable. I enjoyed myself. Unfortunately we did not visit the whole of Malacca. There are lots of places to visit such as Malacca Zoo etc. I guess we were short of time plus we stayed only for one night. Staying in Little Nyonya Youth Hostel is highly recommended. As mentioned above, it is nice simple yet comfortable. Hostel staff, Raj was very helpful. He knows in and out of Malacca. He takes good care of you.

Surely we will visit again.

New Year's Eve - 31/12/2009

1/01/2010 01:09:00 PM
Happy new year!!! It's 2010!

Last night's celebration was so much fun. Celebrated with friends at Laundry Bar, The Curve, Mutiara Damansara. Friends that came for the celebration were Anna Turus, Eunji, A-Jull, Amalina, Khairin, Francesco, Tomoko, Jakob, Jakob's brother, Talal and Joss.

We first gathered at mamak restaurant in Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, KL except for Amalina, Jakob, Jakob's brother and Joss which we met at Laundry Bar. Had dinner at mamak restaurant.

After dinner, we head out to Laundry Bar, The Curve. Initially was just to head out to The Curve and decide a place to hang out once there. Found out from Amalina there were empty tables in Laundry Bar. We actually walked to Laundry Bar from Taman Tun Dr. Ismail. Thought of driving but realized there won't be any parking space.

Walking to Laundry Bar took us about 30 minutes. It was a good exercise..hehe. Anyway, once we reached Laundry Bar, had to pay cover charge RM50 per person. Thought there won't be any charge as we were early. We reached Laundry Bar at about 9pm.

We managed to get a table and ordered some drinks. We talked and laughed all night long. At 1145pm, we decide to head out to the street to watch fireworks. We found out we could watch fireworks from Laundry. So we decide to head back to Laundry. Unfortunately along the way, the fireworks started. We managed to watch fireworks.

Fireworks were awesome. Loved it. After fireworks, went back to Laundry and wish everyone 'Happy New Year'. Soon after that went to the dance floor. We dance all night long.

Khairin left early with a friend as she was bit tired. Few minutes after that, Amalina left. Soon after that, we left. Guess what? As we were about to leave, saw few enforcement officers came in. Fortunately I managed to leave without being notice by them. What a relief...hehe. We left Laundry at 2am.

We walked back to Taman Tun Dr. Ismail except for Joss; had some drinks and food. Soon after that, sent them back home. I reached home at 5am and went straight to bed.

I had a great time celebrating the new year. :)
